12 Days of Krafty Handmade Giving, Day 1

Hey yall!!!  Krafty Girl Tangii here kicking off The 12 Days of Krafty Handmade Giving!  Each day from Decemeber 1st through the 12th we will be sharing lots of handmade goodies here on the blog featuring Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! We know that you're always looking for fun things to create besides cards but especially at this time of year! So we've got lots of amazing and creative things to share from tags, to notepads, to holiday decor so be sure to pop by every day!!
Let's get things started with something warm and cozy and yummy!  I've made this little cuppie for one of the Realtors that's helping us with our house.  The most expensive part of this was the cup... $5 at the Grocery store!  First let me show you the Krafty, then I'll show ya the yummy and be sure to read this to the end for a recipe for some super-d-duper HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOWS!!

So I just made a quick tag here using some dies and some burlap paper.  If you're making several you can quickly do this on your Silhouette.  The sentiment on the baby tag is from The Magic of Christmas clear stamp set.  I also used one of cute little cups from the One Cup at a Time clear set.  I paper pieced the cup but colored the "whip" with some Copics.  Then I just added a few embellies to the tag.

Now to the warm and yummy part!!!  The snowman bag has some hot cocoa mix, I make my own, but you can certainly buy this from the store!  There are LOTS of yummy Cocoa's out there!  I added a few Candy Canes cause not only are they yumm-a-licious, but they're kinda pretty too!  Then the piece de resistance... (drum roll please...)

Homemade Marshmallows!!!!  Oh my giddyness, these are a-mazing!!!!  And... they were super easy to make!!  So I totally swiped the recipe from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa), here it is below...

INGREDIENTS

3 packages unflavored gelatin

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

DIRECTIONS
Combine the gelatin and 1/2 cup of cold water in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and allow to sit while you make the syrup.

Meanwhile, combine the sugar, corn syrup, salt, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Raise the heat to high and cook until the syrup reaches 240 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from the heat.

With the mixer on low speed, slowly pour the sugar syrup into the dissolved gelatin. Put the mixer on high speed and whip until the mixture is very thick, about 15 minutes. Add the vanilla and mix thoroughly.

With a sieve, generously dust an 8 by 12-inch nonmetal baking dish with confectioners' sugar. Pour the marshmallow mixture into the pan, smooth the top, and dust with more confectioners' sugar. Allow to stand uncovered overnight until it dries out.

Turn the marshmallows onto a board and cut them in squares. Dust them with more confectioners' sugar.  I stored mine in a large Ziploc bag and poured in an extra scoop of Powdered Sugar just so they didn't stick together.

Totally delicious!!  Ok, so bottom line... you can make this gift easily in large quantities, very inexpensively and it is just too, too cute!  Thanks for popping in, be sure to swing by tomorrow for another fabulous idea!!
