Hi everyone! Christine here and I'm so, so, so
excited to be guest designing for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps this month.
It's truly an honor. Today I'm sharing a quick tutorial on how to
create an easel card. I haven't made one of these in forever. They are
so easy to make and the finished result is really awesome. Here's a
quick picture of the supplies I used to create my easel card:
Your first
step is to cut an 8 1/2 x11 piece of cardstock into 5 1/2" by 11".
You'll also cut a separate piece of cardstock to 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 (most of
my cards I make are 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches and so I tailored the
standard easel card instructions (which is much smaller) to fit my
taste. The 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 panel will be your "card." You will take
your 5 1/2 by 11 inch piece of cardstock and score it at 2 3/4 inches
and at 5 1/2 inches.
Your second step is to fold at your score lines to create a mountain fold.
Next,
you will place strong adhesive onto the short panel you have folded
over. This is where your 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 separate piece of cardstock
will go. I use Scor Tape, it's a fabulous adhesive and it's super
strong. I've never had anything fall off.
Next, decorate your 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 panel (your "card"). For my card, I used Cutthroat Lizzie.
You will then adhere your panel to the easel part of your
card. I also decorated the base a bit with some design paper and I
popped up my sentiment. This way, the card will stay up because the
sentiment panel catches it to keep it up. You could really use anything
here, pearls, gems, flowers, anything. I just chose to keep it simple
with a sentiment. This sentiment is from the KKS Pirate Sentiments set.
Here's a side view of what the easel card will look like
And finally, here's a picture to show that you can close the card so you could easily mail it.
