Krafty Tips and Tuts: Mirror effect!

Hi everyone!

Krafty Girl Deborah here with a little tutorial for you!
It's almost Halloween, so I thought to share a little trick to give a mirror effect to your colouring.
I used the gorgeous stamp Witch Wanda.

First you have the colour the whole image or the mirror part, just like you coloured the main image.

After that you just start to flick some stipes on a corner of the mirror with the darkest colour ( Copic W5).
Of course you can do the same with pencils or other colouringmediums.

Next step is to flick the previous lines a bit further into the mirror with the medium colour (W3)

Blend the colours out with a W1 marker and go a bit in the coloured part of the face in the mirror

Blend everything a bit together with the lightest colour. (W1)

Add some white lines with Copic Opaque White or a white Shapie pen on the mirror and  erase it a bit with your fingers and tadaaaaa.... There's the effect!

I said it was simple, right?!

Thank you for stopping by!

KRAFTY TIPS AND TUTES - Keeping Track of the Supplies You Used

Hello there!  Larisa here popping in to share a Krafty Tip about keeping track of the supplies you've used on a card or project.  Personally, I create cards long before I ever share or blog them and I suspect many of you do too.  So, how do you keep track of the supplies that you used to create the card?  Today, I have a very simple, but helpful trick to help you stay organized and save time.

First, I start with my project and a sticky note.

For my little tag, I used the Make Your Own Magic Set and the sentiment if from Witch Willa.

When I finish with my card or project, I just write down all the products that I used on the sticky note.  I write down the name of the stamp set, all the Copic Colors I used as well as the names of dies, patterned papers, and embellishments that I used.  Usually this doesn't all fit on the front so I write on the back as well.

When, I've written everything down, I just stick the note on the back and store it for a later date when I'm ready to blog about it.  For a card, I just place the note on the inside.

When it's time to share my project, I just remove the sticky note, take pictures, and post.  I don't have to hunt for what I've used or try to post from memory.

So, just a quick little tip to save your time and keep you organized.  Hope you'll try it out!

Spotlight on a Krafty Girl - Kraftin Kimmie!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, we're starting a new feature here called SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  First on the list is Kraftin Kimmie herself!  Did you know that this week is the 7th birthday of Kraftin Kimmie stamps?!?!?

Kimmie wouldn't send me a "newish" photo of herself so I swiped this one from Facebook!  This is one of my faves of her and her cute hubby.

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started? I’ve always been a crafter of some sort starting with knitting and crocheting when I was six years old. But I started scrapbooking about 20 years ago and quickly found that I could incorporate stamping into my books! Then it evolved into cardmaking because I could complete cards so much quicker than scrapbook pages!

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate? I love to create cards and gifts for people I love! My favourites are birthdays, Halloween and Christmas, of course!

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? At this exact moment….my favourite tool is my Brother Scan n’ Cut! I can cut out so many images to colour all at once!

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay? I love to check out creations and designs on Pinterest for ideas and inspiration!

5. What is your favorite paper line? DOODLEBUG!

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)? My favourite markers are my Copic markers!!! I never create without them! And colouring is SO therapeutic!

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? My biggest challenge when krafting is layouts and design! I need to stop putting so much pressure on myself to come up with new layouts and just stick with what I love and what works for me!

8. What other hobbies do you have? I am an avid reader! When I’m not kraftin’, I’m readin’! ;)

We also asked for some eye-candy!!! We ALL love pictures!!!  First off, let me just say that when I asked Kimmie for some photo's of her Krafty Space, she asked if I was insane!  In face she said those same words several times, lol!!!  Anyway, here is HER Krafty Space... plenty of space to make a BIG ol MESS!!!!  Er, I mean, plenty of space to have Krafty Friends over!

Of course it's PINK!!!!  What'd you expect?!? lol

Next up we have Kimmie's FIRST KKS Kreation... using Charlotte!!!!  (I miss Charlotte!)

And last, but certainly NOT least, we asked for something using either her favorite Stamp set or her favorite card...

Oh, and why not a picture of the Kraftin Kimmie Support Team...

Well that's a wrap!!!  We hope you enjoyed this Spotlight on a Krafty Girl, we hope you'll tune in every month!  Be sure to check out Kimmie's blog, here!  Don't forget to tell her "hi" when ya stop by!

We want EVERYONE to be able to play along so your submission can use ANY stamp and can be any theme, any style, any design and it can be a card, a scrapbook page, an altered item....you name it!!  It must be a NEW creation and you can enter on this post until October 18th at midnight!  At the end of the month one random winner will be chosen from all the submissions for the whole month and will receive a $20 Gift Card to the shop!!!  What do you think.....wanna WIN??  Let's see your krafty stuff!!

In addition to the great Krafty Challenges & Wonderful Wednesday, each month we will post a Sketch.  The sketch will last all month long and if you use it in ANY of our Challenges or WW's during that month you will get an additional chance to win a store gift card!  You do NOT have to use the sketch, it's just a little extra boost for your mojo if ya need it!  Here is October's sketch...

Krafty Girl Deborah here with some inspiration. I love to make Christmas cards lately, I'm already in the mood! I made a mailproof card, that means it's completely flat. I used the adorable stampset "Shake It Up!" and the sentiment is from "The Magic of Christmas".

KRAFTY TIPS AND TUTES - Using more than one stamp

Hi Krafty friends!

Krafty Girl Stephanie with you today :-) I wanted to demistify the use of multiple stamps from a same set and share how to create a scene with them.

You don't need anything special, just a stamping block and some ink! I would suggest to use an acrylic one, as it's easier for placement when you see through.

On this card, I used the A Purr-fect Day stamp set and stamped several accessories to create the scene. First, let's all agree that the designers do a fantastic job at creathing the sets, because every single item matches the whole thing. You don't even have to mask them!

As you can see, I used two cats, the thinking bubble, the aquarium and the wool ball.

On this one, I used the male gnome, the squirrel, the bushes, the clover, the mushrooms and the snail several times, along with the lady gnome from the Whimsical Gnomes set. I stamped everything on a large panel and cut it to size (4"x6") when finished so that it would look nice on the edges.

How about a classic touch? Black on white with every jewel from the Let Your Light Shine set. I stamped the whole panel, and then die cut through it, so we could see the sentiment that was stamped inside. Think about it; with this small trick, you can reuse the diecut piece for a second card!

Black and white can be classic, or trendy when seen through a piece of vellum, like this Butterfly Dreams card!

Just like the Whimsical Gnomes card, I stamped every image and resized the Buds and Bloms stamp set panel for a different look.

And a great favourite of mine with the Oceans of love set; everything is stamped with black ink, but coloured in monochromatic tones on the outside of the die-cut!

So, do you feel like you can tackle more than one stamp on a single card, now? I encourage you all to try it and share on the Kraftin' Kimmie Krafty Friends Facebook group :-)
