KRAFTY TIPS & TUTES - CORNER PUNCH DOILIES

Hi, this is Krafty Girl Marilyn with a tutorial on making Corner Punch Doilies!  I don't know about you but I have a lot of corner punches just sitting there collecting dust.  I've been using these to make doilies for some of my cards.  It's quite simple to do and a great way to use up some of those scraps of paper.  There are many of ways to make these but this is my take on it.

SUPPLIES

Cardstock
Corner Punches
Circle Cutter

My circles measure 4 1/2 inches.  Just a little note the finish doily is almost the same size as the circle you started with.  I usually use the 4 1/2 inch circle but bought doilies or dies are about 4 inches. The finished size depends on you but the procedure is still the same. Also make sure the little wings are closed.

Once you've got you circle and punch ready it's time to have some fun!

Make sure you have the punch upside down facing you so that you can see where to make the first cut.  Place the punch at the very end of the circle as shown above.  Then cut!

This is what it looks like after the first cut.  Then it's just a matter of lining it up and cutting completely around the circle.

Now, this is not an exact science.  Sometimes you get a perfect cut and other times you don't.  But that's alright you can just hide it behind the image, flowers or the sentiment.  No one will know but you!!

Just to show you that it can come out with a perfect cut, here is one done with the same punch and the same size circle.

I know you could figure it out mathematically but I'm not patient enough to do that.  Another tip, if you do get a perfect cut trace it onto another circle so you will have it for next time!!

Here are some doilies made with different punches to give you an idea of what you can create with punches!!
Just a few cards that have doilies on them made with punches.  One is done with an oval shape.  The first one features the Pretty As A Princess stamp and the second features Rosie Fairy

I hope I have inspired you to give this a try!!  We would love to see whatever you have created!!

Spotlight on Krafty Girl Alexis!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, next up on our NEW feature here called SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL is Alexis!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!

This is Alexis with the "love of her life", Auggie.  He's trying to play it cool, he secretly LOVES the camera!

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started? I started krafting mainly in 2001 after a trip to France, although I had been making paper collages before then LOL.

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate? How about a favorite time lol – late at night that is when I have my mojo time. I do really enjoy krafting on rainy days and I love making Christmas cards.

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? Stamps….lol…no but seriously they are super versatile and fun to use ;) I also like my Silhouette and my dies.

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?     PINTERST and our FACEBOOK group. Everyone is so talented and you can find some really awesome ideas there.

5. What is your favorite paper line? DOODLEBUG !!!! I love their fanciful paper lines but I am also partial to Simple Stories.

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)? Copics, however I have been getting back to using my watercolors off and on.

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? Card layouts. I find that part the most challenge and will often create the card and get it all ready and then color the image up.

8. What other hobbies do you have? Reading and drinking coffee!

We also asked for some eye-candy!!! We ALL love pictures!!!  Here's a pic of Alexis' Kreative Space!

Proof that a Kreative space doesn't have to be pink to to be able to make amazing projects!!

Next up we have Alexis' FIRST KKS Kreation... Look at sweet Willard's face! <3 <3

And last, but certainly NOT least, we asked for something using either her favorite Stamp set or her favorite card... Alexis' favorite kreation is this great Steampunk card using All Steamed Up (this set is retired).

Well that's a wrap!!!  We hope you enjoyed this Spotlight on a Krafty Girl, we hope you'll tune in every month!  Be sure to check out Alexis' blog, here!  Don't forget to tell her "hi" when ya stop by!

which can be used as a gift tag or ornament for the tree!

SUPPLIES:

Melissa Frances Large Frames, purchased from Amazon.com
Paper, Memento Ink Pad, etc.

Measure the paper to fit inside the frame and stamp.
I used Memento Brown Ink to make it pop on the blue pattern paper.

STEP 2
Cut ribbon and fold in half to make a loop for hanging.
Tip!  Use pinking shear scissors to stop the ribbon edges from fraying.

STEP 3
Glue the paper to the frame and hot glue gun the ribbon loop.
