This week's Krafty Hostess is none other than Kimmie, herself!!  Kimmie used MERMAID FRIENDS on her shaker card.  I LOVE the colors!!  I am just sure she made this for me and I expect to see it in my mail box any day now ;-)  lol.

   

Krafty Tips & Tuts - Explosion box with Sandy Toes!

Hey Krafty fans!

Krafty Girl Stephanie with you today :-) As I promised during the June release week, here's my Explosion Box tutorial featuring the Sandy Toes set by Emilie Goulet. You can find multiple versions on the Web, but I thought this one would be perfect to gather all the pictures from a recent trip. Now, it may seem like a lot of papers, but trust me, once you'll be done with the frame, everything else is just embellishment!

Here's how to create it:


For the box:

Using 3 sheets of  12"x12" cardstock, do the next steps.

Cardstock A – Score at 4" on each side. Cut all four corners, like this:

Cardstock B – Cut at 11¼"x11¼". Score at 3¾" on each side. Cut all four corners.
Cardstock C – Cut at 10½"x10½". Score at 3½" on each side. Cut all four corners.

Shape every layer and add adhesive in the center of each one, so that they're all piled together, from the biggest to the smallest.

And for the cover:
Cut a piece of cardstock to 6^1/8"x6^1/8". Score each side at 1" and cut along the vertical line, as shown on the sketch below. Put some adhesive on the exterior part of the corners and shape the cover. Now, all you have to do is decorate everything with embellishments and pictures (Fujifilm Instax, anyone?!), add a big bow on top of it and voilà!

New Krafty Girls!!!!

I'm so thrilled to announce that we have two amazing new ladies joining the Krafty Girl Design Team!!
You may remember them both from being Krafty Guests in the past so please say hello and welcome them both!!

My name is Jasmine (yup, just like the disney princess) but some of you might know me as Noxine on social media. 

I live in Sweden with my fiancé Jonas and our finnish lapphund Leia. Other than that, I am currently a nurse student and I'm trying to learn my dad's native language- Turkish Also, I have a passion for photopraphy, like to work out & love to make cards! Oh.. And I love everything with fairies, witches & myths ;) 

I've been making cards since 2012 and I discovered copics just before christmas 2014, after trying both promarkers and distress markers which I didn't quite like.. I love my copics so much that I decided to do the ECCP exam in November 2015, and now I'm a European Copic Colouring Master! :) I just love being creative and I'm thrilled to be part of this super talented team!

Hello, my name is Larisa and I am so excited and honored that Kimmie has asked me to be a Krafty Girl! Seriously, I feel like I've won the lottery and I have to keep pinching myself!   I have been a huge Kraftin Kimmie fan since day one.  I just adore the whimsical designs and love how they bring a smile everyone's face.  And now I get to be on the Design Team!  So exciting!!! 

I have been crafting for over fifteen years and stamping for about eight of them.  The minute I discovered Copics, I was hooked, and the rest is history.  I have been on several design teams and am pretty active in the Facebook/Craft community so you may have seen me around.  Also, I was a Guest Designer for Kraftin Kimmie during the month of April which was a ton of fun!  I'm so thrilled to be able to work with such amazing artists and designers.  Did I mention I've been pinching myself? 

Besides crafting, I teach High School English which I love, and I dabble in photography.  I live in Texas with my loving husband and sweet little toddler (our pride and joy)!  We also have three dogs that keep us very busy!

Bottom of the sea background tutorial

Hi everyone!

Are you ready for another Krafty Tip and Tutes? 

Great! I made an other under water tutorial, but this time I focus on the bottom of the sea.

Perfect for all your mermaid or other underwater stamps, on this card I've used the gorgeous Dolly Diver.

Warning: there are tons of images!

First I stamped Dolly Diver with Memento Desert Sand on Neenah cardstock by Crafter's Companion. You can do this on any paper you use for colouring with alcohol markers.

I coloured a border with E41 for the bottom of the sea. It doesn't have to be flawless.

After that I came in with E31 to add some depth on the bottom and blended it out with 41.

Then I coloured the water with a layer of BG000. I doesn't have to be a perfect colouring, it's only a base.

Right above the bottom of the sea I've added a splash of BG34 and BG23.

I blended those colours together with my BG11.

I blended the colours out with BG10 towards the top. The background base is ready now.

Now I had to add a light source. the sunshine comes in from the upper left corner. I've marked with my blender the lightsourse in the colourwork. You'll notice the lighter lines in the water now.

 After we created the lighter parts, it's time to create some darker lines to. I did that with BG34.

Blend the lines out with BG11. Do you see what is happening?

After we did the lower part, it's time to do the upper part. I choose to use some blue colours for this one: B32 and B91 and blended it out with BG000.

 I repeated the last steps to have more contrast.

 After that it's time to draw some plants with YG06.

Create some depth with YG09 and finish with G28.

 Create some texture on the sand by adding dots at the darkest places with E33.

 Add some E31 dots around the previous ones to blend them out and add some new dots.

As final step you can blend the latest dots out with E41 and add some texture again by putting dots on the whole bottom part. And it's finished!!!
