Krafty Tips & Tutes: Week #9 - Smarty Pants Notepad!

 Welcome to another week of Krafty Tips and Tutes here at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!  Each week one of our fabulous Krafty Girls will be sharing a little post with some sort of tip or tutorial for you and we hope you find them inspirational!  This week our hostess is SHARON!!!  And she's prepared a fabulous step by step tutorial with pics showing how to create an ADORABLE decorated notepad featuring one of our fave new stamp sets!  Enjoy the tutorial and then go ahead and get krafty and make your own!  We'd love to see what you create!!

Hey everyone! Sharon here today to show you how to make a quick little gift of a notepad. These make awesome teacher gifts! The final size of this is 4" x 5". I used the adorable SMARTY PANTS set from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, and she's colored up with Copic markers.

Here is what you will need:

1 piece of heavy cardstock  8 1/2" x 5"

3 pieces of your choice of pattern paper cut at 3 7/8" x 4 3/4" 

3 pieces of coordinating cardstock cut at 4" x 4 7/8"

one piece of pattern paper 2 3/8" x 3 1/8"

one piece of coordinating cardstock  2 1/2" x 3 1/4"

one piece of coordinating cardstock  3" x 1 3/4"

15 pieces of white cardstock cut at 3" x 4 1/4"

Take your 8 1/2" x 5" heavyweight cardstock and on the 8 1/2" side, score in 4 1/8" from each side, folding it into a booklet.  

Take the rest of your layering cardstock and papers (not your white cardstock), and distress using either sandpaper or distressing tool. Tip: the edge of scissors makes an awesome distressing tool!

Ink the edges if desired. I used Range Vintage Photo

Layer your papers and adhere to the front, back, and inside of your booklet.

Color your Kraftin' Kimmie image and cut out.  

Then mount onto the front of your booklet using pop dots or dimensional mounting tape.

For the notepad inside, take the white cardstock pieces and score them all at one inch from the top. If you have a Silhouette, you can easily create these in your machine and add a perforation line. If not, just use one of those cute little perforating tools.  If you want to step it up a notch, stamp with a light ink on the pieces. I used just her head and used Ranger Antique Linen. 

Put a strip of tape runner glue or Scor tape across one side above the perforation of each sheet, and glue them together in a stack being careful to line them up so they are even and neat. After gluing them into a stack, I used 1/2" Scor tape at the very top of both the front and back of the stack. Take the 3" x 1 3/4" piece of cardstock and score at 3/4" from both sides. Fold your scores, and this will be the piece you adhere your stack of paper to for the inside. 

After creating your stack and adhering it to the cardstock top,  turn it over and place a strip of 1/2" Scor tape to the back and then adhere it centering it to the inside of your booklet. 

Finish decorating the front as you wish. I used May Arts 1 1/4" silk ribbon boy with a button from my stash.  I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, and if you choose to make any, I would really love to see it!! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!
