Krafty Tips & Tutes #20 - Altered Frame

Good morning!  Krafty Girl, Stephanie here to show you how you can use your Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps in more ways than just cardmaking. In fact, you can use them almost everywhere and on every item for Home Decor, altering an item to make a special gift or to decorate your walls.

Supplies needed for this project:

·         An extra deep frame (I used the white RIBBA frame from IKEA)

·         A 7”x5” picture

·         12”x12” Cardstock

·         6”x6” sheet of patterned paper

·         Ribbon, lace, embellies

·         A coloured image you like (I was eager to use the Red Queen!)

·         3D adhesive pop-ups

·         Ruler

·         Paper Trimer

·         Pencil

First step, gently disassemble the frame and put all the pieces aside except for the white cardstock.

This frame will be the first thing to touch your picture.

Next comes the tricky part. You have to cut a square shape through your cardstock and design paper to make an opening for the picture below. Here are some steps to help you keep it cool during the process: Cut your black cardstock at 61/8”x61/8” and then trace a line at 13/8” starting from each side. You’ll create a square pattern.

Cut along all the inner intersection to create your new opening. Do the same thing with your chosen patterned paper.  Add some 3D adhesive between both layers before assembling them and gluing them on your white photo frame.

Add some lace, ribbon and other embellies at this point. Fussy cut your coloured image. Add your silhouette with pop-ups to the frame.

Add your picture in the back of the white frame cardstock and you might want to glue it there, to make sure it won’t move. Then, all you need to do is to reassemble the frame and your easy piece of art can now be given as a gift or be hanging on your wall.

Have fun creating your own decor with Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and then share them with us!!!  Happy kraftin'!
