Paper Piecing Tutorial featuring
Shading.

Paper piecing can make an image
come alive...for even more depth, try shading!
SUPPLIES:
Copic Markers (Grey Colors, C or W Range)
and/or
Prismacolor Pencils
Gamsol (Solvent)
Blending Stumps
TIPS:
(a)
SHADING: When
shading, follow the lines provided on the
stamped
image by the artist.
(b) COLOR: Build up the
color, starting with the lightest or darkest
and
then add to the color as needed.
(c)
EXPERIMENT:
Try shading with the Copic markers and
then
the Prismacolor pencils to see what works best for you.
(d) LIGHT SOURCE: Decide
where your light source is coming from and
apply
shading to add dimension and depth to your paper piece.

Step 1:
My image is colored below and ready to add
the
paper pieced portion.
Step 2:
Next, I have paper pieced the dress on.
Step 3:
Finally, I shade the paper piece for extra depth.
I
have utilized Prismacolor pencils with gamsol solvent
and
blending stumps on the image below.
