Krafty Tips & Tutes: Making a Gift Box

Hello everyone, Krafty Girl Tracy here, sharing a tutorial on how to create a gift box. I used the SMARTY PANTS stamp set to decorate this box.

This box was used for a set of 12 note cards (with envelopes) and the box measures 6 x 4 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches.

The base of the box will be cut at 9 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches. You will want to use a heavier weight cardstock.

Score your box at 1 3/4 inches, rotate the paper and repeat on all sides.

Fold on your score lines.

To create the flaps of your box, on two (opposite) sides, cut on the score line up to the intersecting score lines.

Apply a strong tape or adhesive to the corners

Fold in the flaps with the adhesive and adhere them to the side panel for all 4 corners.

For the lid you will repeat the steps above. The size of the cardstock will be a slight bit larger. I added only 1/16 inches to my base measurement. You could go up to 1/8 inch to your base if you want your lid more loose.

Again score at 1 3/4 inches on all sides, fold and repeat the cuts for the flaps.

Be sure to decorate the lid first before you assemble.

Here is a look at the finished box, complete with the set of note cards. There is enough room in the box to add a few extra treats.

Here is another example of a gift box. This one measures 5 3/4 inches square. The cardstock for the base of your box will measure at 9 1/4 inches square. Score at 1 3/4 on all sides. Again the lid will be 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch large than the base size with the same score at 1 3/4 inches on all sides).

Thanks for joining me today for this tutorial. I hope you will try creating your own box and share it with us over in the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Krafty Friends group on Facebook. We love to see what you are creating with your fabulous Kraftin' Kimmie stamps.

Have a KRAFTY day!
