Spotlight on Krafty Girl Jasmine!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, next up on SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL is Jasmine!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  

This is Miss Jasmine...

 1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started?  I’ve always been crafting more or less. I took up cardmaking almost 4 or 5 years ago, I can’t remember exactly. I do remember it was when I had just moved to Jonas (my fiancé) in another city and I had nothing to do during my days, I didn’t know anyone in town and couldn’t find a job. I had to spend my time somehow, right? ;) No but seriously, I had my cousin visiting and we were shopping for my mothers 50th birthday and we ended up in a craft store and decided to buy some papers and scissors tomake our own cards. There also was a scrapbooking fair twice a year just a 10 minute walk from our home and that’s kind of what really got me hooked with all the goodies in the stores and the demos. 
However, I’ve always been creative in one way or another. There have just been different periods trying on new things, but one thing that’s always been close to my heart is colouring and drawing.

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate?  I love to make cards for birthdays and holidays! It’s so much fun to make that little extra for someone. I’ve always been that one to buy cards to give with a flower or a gift.I love to get Christmas cards in my mailbox!  And then there’s Halloween which isn’t that big of a deal here in Sweden but kinda ”my theme” with a lot of witches and magic, haha!

3. What is your favorite krafty tool?  Does all my stamps and copics count? Hmm.. I would have to say my Silhouette Cameo, it’s been a very useful and fun friend to work with! But it recently got some competition from my die cutting machine that I got for Christmas.

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?    If I have to make something ”pronto”, I tend to search for sketches or look at other crafters cards for inspiration. Otherwise I get inspiration from everywhere and nowhere. I can get it from watching a tv-series or on a walk with Leia (my dog).  

5. What is your favorite paper line?  I’ve been a frequent user of Maja Design but I’ve recently fallen in love with First Edition. Other favourites include BoBunny & Reprint.

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)?  I’ve tried promarkers and distress markers and I didn’t like them. Then I found COPICS and fell in love. I don’t colour with anything else anymore.

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? Making cards for men.

8. What other hobbies do you have?  My other hobbies include photography, my dog Leia who is a 6 year old finnish lapphund. Singing (although not so good) and dancing is always fun and watching movies or tv-series. I also enjoy working out and I’m getting back into that hobby again after a break due to a lot of stress and lack of time with school and work.

Happy Birthday Nana!!!!

We LOVE Nana!!!!  Did you know that Kraftin Kimmie's Mama is also a Krafty Girl??  Yep, we've got our very own team Nana, and today we're shining the Krafty Spotlight on her cause it's her BIRTHDAY!!!!!  Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to yooouuuuu... Hap-py Birthday Na-na, Happy Birthday to Yooooouuuuuuuu!!  The Krafty Girls have pulled out their stamps and got inky to wish Nana Diana a VERY Happy Birthday!!

This is our Nana Diana...

1.  How long have you been krafting?  I have been stamping for about 12 years. 

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate?  My favourite reason to craft is for birthdays.

3. What is your favorite krafty tool?  My fave tool is my trusty Cuttlebug as I like to use a lot of dies and to dry emboss.

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?     My go to source is layouts, although I usually veer off from them once I get started.

5. What is your favorite paper line?  My favourite paper line is Doodlebug.

6. What is your biggest challenge when krafting?  My biggest challenge is colouring as I am not a natural at all.

7. What other hobbies do you have?  My other hobbies are crochet, knitting and sewing.

Spotlight on Krafty Girl Deborah!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, next up on SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL is Deborah!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  

This is Miss Deborah...

 1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started?  I started with crafting after high school, when I was around 20 years old. I saw a scrapbooking box in a local bookstore and I was very interested. I bought that box and started to search for scrapbooking on the internet. I didn’t find that much info, but I started on my scrapbook anyway. I was so proud of it when it was ready, but now I think it’s so ugly, haha! My aunt made 3D cards and when it became winter, I did the same thing. It was great to watch tv and cutting the image at the same time. First I made 3D cards, I just cut the image and glued it to a card with a golden or silver sticker sentiment. Then I saw that there were stickers in figures and I coloured them in with some gel pens on cards, glass or plastic. And then there was a time when I discovered stamping and since then I’m hooked! I started my blog in October 2010 and I was colouring using my Derwent Coloursoft pencils and a few weeks later I bought a lot of Copic markers second hand. In January 2011 I found the stamping love of my life: Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!!!

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate?  I always love to kreate around spring. It’s still too cold to be outside and the days are getting longer, more sunshine, the trees are in blossom.... There’s always a bunch of new craft stuff in the craft stores with tons of pretty papers and happy colours. Just my kind of things.

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? That must be the Misty tool! It gives you the most perfect image and you can do different techniques with it. 

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?      If I need some inspiration, I take a look at Pinterest or Instagram and I search for sketches or just looking at cards from others and going through my stamps and dies and see what’s never been used before. 

5. What is your favorite paper line? That’s so easy! I love very happy colours and cute designs, so Echo Park and Doodlebug are my favorite! I’m always amazed at their new lines and I like it so much that they always have coordinated enamel dots, I think that’s my biggest addiction lately. I hoarded so much paper over the years and now I don’t use that many paper anymore, so I try to buy not too much paper lately. Now I only buy paper if I don’t own anything like that (design, colours,…) 

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)?  I don’t need to think about that, my Copic markers! I really enjoy colouring with them and I do it on Neenah White Solar by Crafter’s Companion. It’s a perfect match for me. Lately I try to finish my colouring using some of my old Derwent Coloursoft pencils. I’m thinking about buying a box Faber Castell Polychromo’s, but it’s so expensive. 

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? The time! Some people are making a card in 2 hours and I in about 6 hours or so. I’m such a slacker. I wished I could colour and get the card together a bit faster. But hey, it’s a hobby, so you do it for fun!

8. What other hobbies do you have?  It has something  to do with colouring too, make-up! I’m currently following a class to become a make-up artist. I hope that a dream can come true. I really enjoy making people prettier and more confident than they already are.

The desk at the left and the closet is all mine, the desk at the left is from my boyfriend. So we can be together in the evening when he's working on his computer and I can crafting on my desk. You can spot the emty petbed under the desk. Well, that's for my cat. She always want to be with me and enjoys sleeping there."

This is Deborah's favorite card, it features a stamp from the ALL STAR set!  Deborah says this is her favorite because... "I just love the colour combo, the sparkling behind the image and the fun and happy feeling you get when you see this stamp."

Spotlight on Krafty Girl Danielle!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, next up on our fairly NEW feature here called SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL is Danielle!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  

This is Miss Danielle...

  

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started?  My addiction to paper crafting began about  13 years ago.  I was browsing through the magazines while waiting for a prescription and picked up a scrapbooking magazine and I was hooked.  I started card making about 6 years ago after a friend invited me to a stamping party. I’m still continually amazed at how I’ve evolved in this hobby.  I thought I was the most un-artistic person in the world.

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate?  Christmas cards are my favorite to make – followed closely  by Halloween (cute not spooky).

3. What is your favorite krafty tool?  I absolutely could not imagine crafting without my Big Shot.
4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?      When my MOJO takes a vacay I start browsing through the gallery submissions of some of my favorite challenges and visit blogs for inspiration.  There’s so much talent out there!

5. What is your favorite paper line? I am a self-professed paper-a-holic! I have way more than I can probably ever use and seem to still always want more – lol!  My favorite lines at the moment are Doodlebug  Designs and Echo Park because of their bright and fun designs.

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)?  I LOVE copic markers – that’s my favorite coloring medium.  But I do like to play around with water coloring sometimes too.

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? My biggest challenge as far as crafting goes is to remember not to compare myself with others or try to be too perfect with my creations.  It’s about the process and trying new things.  I really want to learn more about mixed media this year.

8. What other hobbies do you have?  My other hobbies include reading and baking (and eating).  I love to be outside in the summer and would really like to have a garden again.

Spotlight on Krafty Girl Brianna!

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started? I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. The addiction started when I was really young, I remember finding a box of Christmas stamps in the attic that belonged to my Mom. Every Christmas from there on out I got some type of crafting kit for Christmas. My addiction has grown stronger since starting my blog back in 2012 and I've been very fortunate in my Krafting Journey.

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate? Well, Halloween is my all time favorite holiday and I love making Halloween cards, spooky cute is typically my style. Although I love to create for any reason/season, I don't need a day to dictate it.

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? I'd have to say I'm really loving my Misti Stamping tool, it makes it super easy to make the perfect alignment and laying of stamped images

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?     PIt used to be Pinterest but lately I seem to gravitate more towards Instagram.

5. What is your favorite paper line? I love anything fun/bright and whimsical. I don't think I can choose just one. I really love Doodlebug, American Crafts and Crate-Paper 

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)? That's easy, Copics are my top go to choice for coloring.

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? Masculine cards, my crafting style doesn't mix well with those types of cards.

8. What other hobbies do you have? s it totally Mom of me to say my children!? I also enjoy crocheting, sewing, beading, spending time outside(when it's warm June-September), Anime, and Movies.

Spotlight on Krafty Girl Alexis!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, next up on our NEW feature here called SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL is Alexis!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  

This is Alexis with the "love of her life", Auggie.  He's trying to play it cool, he secretly LOVES the camera! 

  

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started? I started krafting mainly in 2001 after a trip to France, although I had been making paper collages before then LOL. 

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate? How about a favorite time lol – late at night that is when I have my mojo time. I do really enjoy krafting on rainy days and I love making Christmas cards.

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? Stamps….lol…no but seriously they are super versatile and fun to use ;) I also like my Silhouette and my dies.

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay?     PINTERST and our FACEBOOK group. Everyone is so talented and you can find some really awesome ideas there.

5. What is your favorite paper line? DOODLEBUG !!!! I love their fanciful paper lines but I am also partial to Simple Stories.

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)? Copics, however I have been getting back to using my watercolors off and on.

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? Card layouts. I find that part the most challenge and will often create the card and get it all ready and then color the image up.

8. What other hobbies do you have? Reading and drinking coffee!

Spotlight on a Krafty Girl - Kraftin Kimmie!

Hey yall!  Krafty Girl Tangii here, we're starting a new feature here called SPOTLIGHT ON A KRAFTY GIRL!  We've sent a list of "We wanna know's" to each of the Krafty Girls and the beginning of each month we'll share their answers with you!  First on the list is Kraftin Kimmie herself!  Did you know that this week is the 7th birthday of Kraftin Kimmie stamps?!?!?

Kimmie wouldn't send me a "newish" photo of herself so I swiped this one from Facebook!  This is one of my faves of her and her cute hubby.

  

1. How long have you been krafting and what got you started? I’ve always been a crafter of some sort starting with knitting and crocheting when I was six years old. But I started scrapbooking about 20 years ago and quickly found that I could incorporate stamping into my books! Then it evolved into cardmaking because I could complete cards so much quicker than scrapbook pages!

2. What is your favorite Reason/Season to kreate? I love to create cards and gifts for people I love! My favourites are birthdays, Halloween and Christmas, of course!

3. What is your favorite krafty tool? At this exact moment….my favourite tool is my Brother Scan n’ Cut! I can cut out so many images to colour all at once!

4. What is your “go to” source for inspiration when your mojo has taken a vacay? I love to check out creations and designs on Pinterest for ideas and inspiration!

5. What is your favorite paper line? DOODLEBUG!

6. What is your favorite coloring medium, type and/or brand (markers, watercolor pencils, chalk pencils, combination of, etc.)? My favourite markers are my Copic markers!!! I never create without them! And colouring is SO therapeutic!

7. What is your biggest challenge when krafting? My biggest challenge when krafting is layouts and design! I need to stop putting so much pressure on myself to come up with new layouts and just stick with what I love and what works for me!

8. What other hobbies do you have? I am an avid reader! When I’m not kraftin’, I’m readin’! ;)

We ALL love pictures!!!  First off, let me just say that when I asked Kimmie for some photo's of her Krafty Space, she asked if I was insane!  In face she said those same words several times, lol!!!  Anyway, here is HER Krafty Space... plenty of space to make a BIG ol MESS!!!!  Er, I mean, plenty of space to have Krafty Friends over!
